I remember writing on my status updates on GR while reading this story, something like this:
Okay... definitely not my cup of tea...
Turned out, it did become my cup of tea!! ;)
This is one of those books...the kind that creates strong feelings: Love vs Hate.
I think it all depends on the expectations (doesn't it always?), and speaking from experience, my advice is just give it a go...it will probably frustrate you a little in the beginning, but if you like "seeing/reading" words being used as if they're part of some complex tapestry, you'll probably end up loving it.
So yes, i admit, the writing, more than the plot managed to grab my attention. The words were just beautifully used, creating beautiful scenes, like the ice garden for instance.
Yes, it could have been better, if the characters had been more developed, or if their relationship had been more developed...but i loved it anyway :)
And, am i not always complaining about reading the same old things? Same old plot, same old motivations, just different names?
Well, this one, no one can say that it wasn't original.
