"For more than two hundred years, the Owens women have been blamed for everything that has gone wrong in town."
Most of the time, the book and the movie don't have anything to do with one another..
Yes, the sisters, aunts and kids are there, but the family dynamics are completely different.
The aunts don't have the relevance they have in the movie....also we follow the kids growing up, Gillian has a bigger role in the book, and her own HEA. (with the help of a very sweet rabbit named Buddy...)
But here's the thing, i saw the movie before i read the book. And until i read it, until i had the actual proof right in front of my eyes, i could have sworn that the movie's screenplay had been written by Alice Hoffman....sure the movie it's more romantic, and everything's softer somehow....but Alice Hoffman's magic is in there.
So, yes the movie desecrated the book..but this must be the only case in which i don't mind.
